What does RDI mean exactly?
Well, it stands for ‘Registered Digital Installer’.
The Licensing Body of the RDI Scheme states that this scheme will improve the aerial reception industry as a whole and raise standards for TV reception installers all over Britain. Only once an installer has met the strict criteria of the RDI licensing body (RDI-LB) can he or she be fully qualified as an RDI. The qualifications which must be obtained to become an RDI include completing the NVQ - level 2 ‘Electrical and Electronic Servicing - Signal Reception Path Way’, passing a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and passing a course on working at heights.
ASTEC has been running for over 17 years and during that period have continued to seek & employ professional development and training to keep abreast of new technologies as they appear, so that we can provide our customers with supporting evidence of our engineers' skills and abilities. ASTEC's engineers are NVQ qualified. RDI at last gives some formal recognition of the skills of an installer which may have gone unrecognized in the past as there have been few qualifications available to the trade.
Alongside RDI, ASTEC are long-standing members of the CAI (Confederation of Aerial Industries) and are CAI “Plus” Members which acknowledges that they have been CRB checked and passed a training course in working at heights.
Add to this the awards and competitions won in previous years by the owner of ASTEC, Mr Steve Staples, these qualifications and professional body memberships together with the on-going professional development and training for him and his staff ensure that ASTEC customers continue to benefit from an up-to-date, knowledgeable and professional service.
